Which paper will this be advertised?
I believe that this newspaper advert should be printed in The Guardian, The Sun and Metro. This would allow the documentary to gather audiences from both class backgrounds and different age groups. By advertising in the metro means it will catch people on the go as Metro is distributed on public transport, with our QR codes, twitter and facebook page also allows people to set reminders and do little bits of research just by scanning the QR code with their Iphone and look at facebook page using mobile internet.
This will also generate advertising as people can share the advert using these social networking sites.

Our Final Newspaper
This is the final newspaper ad. We tried 4 ads and asked people which one they liked, this was the most liked so we decided to create this one.
We need an image that represents the Illuminati so we researched symbolism and came up with a triangle. As the secretes of this organisation are become known and questioned i made the triangle become deformed using photoshop, this made it look like the organisation it's self was crumbling away.
The text was also thought through for quite a long time, we wanted something to represent the age of The Order Of The Illuminti. The text we used uses quite angular text so the "A" looks like a triangle, we decided to use this font for that very reason. It helps link the newspaper advert wi the topic.
The text used in this adverts is the same text used throughout our three tasks, the text was created using Dafont this site allows you to choose texts appropriate to documentaries, films and stories.
Conventions Of Newspaper Adverts
There are some convention f newspaper adverts that me and my group must stick too, these things are:
tell a story and to inform the audience what this documentary is about. Even if the Title was not at the bottom, the audience would still know that its about gun crime or violence.
This is a more powerful way to catch audiences eyes, than having lines of words dotted around the image, which people don't read when on their travels.
- Image- The image must be relevant to the subject being advertised.
- Logo- Of the company e.g. Channel 4 or Coca-Cola
- Slogans- Slogans don't necessarily have to be used, however these make the audience engage with the advert and are used to help the audience remember the ad.
- Description- The description is usually about the subject being advertised, such as films. For a film the description would be the cast, story outline and date released.
This advert for channel 4 uses some of the conventions of newspaper adverts. This ad uses the "4" logo, gives a brief description on the subject of the documentary "a season on the care system" It also uses an image that is tied into the title, however if i saw the image without the text i would have thought that the documentary was on something completely different. This shows how powerful the use of photography has become in advertisements.
This Newspaper uses the image to independently tell a story and to inform the audience what this documentary is about. Even if the Title was not at the bottom, the audience would still know that its about gun crime or violence.
This is a more powerful way to catch audiences eyes, than having lines of words dotted around the image, which people don't read when on their travels.
History of Newspaper Adverts
Newspaper adverts have been used since the late 1830's the first advert appeared in the french Newspaper La Presse. Newspapers introduced paid adverts so that they could lower prices of newspapers as a whole. Lower prices meant it could extend its readership and increase profits.
This is a coca cola advert from the late 19th Century, unlike newspaper adverts today the only text included in this ad is the company name and price. This ad doesn't try to convince people with text or slogans like the numerous ads we find day to day.
Painted portraits were still used in adverts as photography had just been introduced into to the newspaper industry, however this was an expensive technique to use so companies such as La Presse, and The Telegraph still used painted images.
By the 1930s painted images were changed to black and white photos, this was only possible due to technological advances in the production of photographs, this made it cheaper for newspaper companies to use.
More text was added into newspaper ads, slogans such as "Nothing is so Refreshing started to appear and the images were the main focus. Logos still appeared on adverts but were a lot small than the ads from the 1800s.
By the 21st century newspaper adverts started to decline in National newspapers due to advances in the Internet and TV channels such as Sky and ITV. Smaller companies such as The Metro and Express and Star still use newspaper advertising as major a income to keep the paper running. The most common advertisements to be found in these newspapers are more likely to be blockbusters in cinemas or exclusive television shows.

Finished Radio Advert.
We have finished the radio ad before the documentary as this was simple and quick to do, we had started constructing the documentary when we decided to record the voice over and edit the music. All that needed doing to the documentary at this time was to be editied.

Music for my Radio advert.
This morning me and Faraz worked on creating music to be used for our Advert. We both decided that as the music needed to be based on the subject itself. As a musician i know different types of genres and history of music. I suggested that the music should be choral, this fits in with the music which was around when the Illuminati was started in the 18th century.
This "Choral" genre is associated with religion, as many academics and the majority of the public believe that the Illuminati and the Freemasons are religions, i thought this would be a good way to tie this into our documentary.
I believe that this music gives the documentary are more mysterious feel, this isn't just down to the voices with the pieces, but the dull pedal notes which accompany the choral music.
The music which we created using garage band is choral music, this genre of music is mysterious as its written and sung in Latin which most people don't understand. The music we created was too overpowering, so we changed the volume levels and cut away at the piece3 of music so that Faraz's voice could still be heard when the two were layered together.

Promblems constructing the Radio ad
Whilst constructing the radio ad we stumbled on a few problems, one was the technology available. The micro phone we used to create the voice over only records in mono, meaning the voice only comes out of one speaker or earphone. This has caused the voice over to become echoed. If we had new equipment, this would have given the radio ad an even more professional sound.
We also had problems with students from other classes just wonder in and make noise, so we had to stop recording until they were dealt with and start the whole process of the voice recording again.

Voice over
Today we started on our voice over for our radio ad. We tried four different people reading the same script, then decided on the best and clearest voice. Then we thought we should use the same voice throughout the documentary and the radio voice over, as Faraz was the narrator for the documentary we though it best that he should do the voice over.

Most popular Radio stations!
1. BBC Radio 2 (14.3m)
2. BBC Radio 1 (11.7m)
3. BBC Radio 4 (10.8m)
4. Heart (7.5m)
5. Capital (7.0m)
6. BBC Radio 5 live (6.3m)
7. Classic FM (5.4m)
8. Kiss (4.2m)
9. Magic (3.9m)
10. Smooth Radio (3.3m)
This is the top 10 radio stations of 2011. If i had to choose any of these stations to broadcast my radio advert, i would choose Heart. This station is a huge commercial radio station which is divided in to small regional stations. I would also choose Classic FM due to the music side such as Beethoven and Mozart who are talked about in "Illuminatum" By using both of these stations to advertise i think we would get a mixture of ages, genders and social class to watch the documentary.
I believe my advert would have had more hits if it was a either a facebook advert or youtube advert. I believe this as radio is slowly losing its listeners, meaning smaller audience to catch.
Radio Research and history
Radio adverts are used all over the world nationally and locally on commercial stations, radio stations sold "spots" in exchange for money. This paid for radio presenters and existence of the station. Companies such as coca-cola sponsored radio station in 1950's America this was due to the presenters thanking sponsors live on air. Radio is still one of the best places to advertise as 95% if the population have listened to the radio in the past week. With the internet and apps it has made it possible for radio stations to be listened all over the world.
Me and my group have now started researching for our radio advert.
We have looked at a few adverts on youtube and the BBC and have seen similarities in both.

Technological Problems
We tried making a moving image to use for our title page, during the process we had a few problems with importing and exporting from different computer programmes. As I'm not advanced in using programmes such as Flash player, i let the other people in my group who new what they were doing to create the image.
The Scripts
As my group are creating a script, i didn't find it necessary to write a script. This was due to making the documentary flow and not be rehearsed. The only part which was scripted was the opening and the questions.

Masonic Lodge Visit
During my research i found that the Freemasons had ties and links with the order of the Illuminati, with this in mind i suggested that we should visit our local masonic lodge in Wolverhampton.
we wanted to get the view of someone who attends and is a part of the Masonic community, this will then give a balanced argument in our documentary
On the 28th of February we decided to travel to the lodge with specific questions we needed answers about, on arrival we met a member of thee Freemasons who was willing to answer some questions about the Illuminati and Freemasonry as a whole. Whilst we set up the camera the gentle man explained who he was. In fact he was J.B Rouse the Provincial Secretary Of Staffordshire. Being a high member of the lodge he was able to offer more information than we initially needed, the information he gave wasn't just on Freemasonry but about religion, speculation and ceremonies that take place in the lodge.
After answering our questions he gave us a guided tour of the Masonic lodge, he did ask however that we didn't film or take photos of the meeting rooms or store rooms. This was due to the fact some of us may become masons.
J.B Rouse gave us an incite into the rich and famous who were members of the Freemasons people such as The Duke of Kent, Mozart and The Archbishop Of Canterbury.

These two videos contain the whole interview we conducted at the masonic lodge. . As the whole interviews goes on for 15 minutes, we will have to decided which parts contain the important information/relevant information and cut it from the rest, this cut footage will be used in our documentary one interview.
